Our DP2 trip to the Azores was an unforgettable adventure that combined thrilling outdoor activities with insightful cultural experiences. We explored the volcanic archipelago's stunning landscapes, from canyoning through lush valleys to kayaking in a serene crater lake. The crystal-clear waters of the Azores were teeming with life, and we were fortunate enough to spot dolphins during our boat trips.
Beyond the natural wonders, we delved into the local culture and history. We visited plantations, savoring the taste of fresh pineapple and tea grown on the fertile volcanic soil. At the University of the Azores, we learned about the Erasmus+ program and its impact on international education.
A highlight of the trip was a talk by Mr. Carlos Sousa from the town of Capelas. He shared his insights on social inequality and the transformative work of the "Casa do Povo" (House of the Poor) in improving the lives of the most disadvantaged communities.
This trip was a culmination of our studies in Geography, Global Politics, and ESS. We were able to apply our classroom knowledge to real-world experiences and gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and political issues.
