January Is Computer Hardware Month!
January is computer hardware month at IBS of Provence! In Mr Rudy's IT lessons, students from Year 7 (6ème) to Year 11 (2nde) are taking desktop PCs apart and putting them back together. 💻
With just a screwdriver, they assemble the different components and learn what each one does:
The processor (CPU): what does it do?
Memory (RAM): how much do you need for a gaming computer?
Storage: which is better, a solid-state drive (SSD) or a hard disk drive (HDD)?
In about 20 to 30 minutes, all the parts come together. Students then see that something that looks so complicated at first is actually not that hard to build.
A great way to learn hands-on and to demystify everyday technology. Well done to all our budding technicians!
