On Tuesday 24 March, the IBS of Provence amphitheatre was once again packed for the final of our Concours d'Éloquence 2026, our French public speaking competition. Our four finalists spoke in front of an attentive jury, our Director Mr Gobbi, and a prestigious jury president: Sacha Ausher, two-time winner of the 2023 and 2024 editions.

A First: Now Open from CM2

One week earlier, on Tuesday 17 March, the qualifying session took place. New this year, the competition is open to pupils from CM2 (Year 6). Our young speakers barely trembled in front of the audience, and stepping onto the stage for the first time was already a victory in itself.

The Topics

  • Junior competition (CM2 to 5ème, Year 6 to Year 8): « Je ne connais pas de plus grande joie que de travailler » (I know of no greater joy than working)

  • Competition (4ème to Terminale, Year 9 to Year 13): « La joie est une brûlure qui ne se savoure pas » (Joy is a burn that cannot be savoured)

The Results

Junior competition (CM2 to 5ème)

  • Winner: Anaïs B. (CM2, Y6)

  • Finalist: Ève B. (CM2, Y6)

Competition (4ème to Terminale)

  • Winner: Jack M. (1ère F, Y12)

  • Finalist: Margot M.B. (1ère F, Y12)

A huge well done to our four finalists for their courage, preparation and talent, and to every pupil who dared to take the floor. Congratulations to all!
