On Monday, April 24th, we were very fortunate to have Vern Granger, Vice President of Strategic Enrolment at The Ohio State University, speak to a crowd of over 100 students, parents and teachers about U.S. University Admissions procedures and opportunities for International School students. We were particularly encouraged to hear how favorably U.S. Universities look on International Student applications, as they seek to recruit individuals who not only excel academically, but also socially and culturally.
We are very grateful to both Mr. Granger, who made an exceptional trip to visit our school and to Christine Brown of the US Department of State Office of Overseas Schools for having proposed this unique opportunity to our students.
Today, the Ypsilon groups of French B HL, SL and Ab Initio had the immense pleasure and honor to attend a lecture by the writer LYNA JONES, who nicely came to speak about her art. Author of “Twelve prayers”, “From Ashes to the Moon” and “A course in Miracles”, she also presented Anna, the main character of her novel to come.
Coming from Normandie (France), Lyna has lived since some 15 years or so in the United-States where she could realize her dream : she could fulfill her life as a writer and also giving a free way to her passion for the English language, as well as following her main leitmotiv “Whatever your choices in life, you must follow your gladness”. We wish her all the best in her future projects !
A big thank you to our librarian Florence Michel, who made this encounter happen !
On Monday 24th April Mrs Pont’s Business class had the pleasure of welcoming Mr Weima from the famous “AIX” wine (vin de Provence).
Mr Weima gave an interesting talk to our students about how he and his team have developed and grown their brand image as well as their unique marketing strategies since they took the business over 8 years ago.
A fascinating talk which will no doubt be more than beneficial to the class when presenting their final Marketing and brand image project!
Thank you to Mrs Pont for organising this event and to Mr Weima for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his knowledge with our students!
Please find below the latest edition of IBS News – March 2017.
We would also like to thank all of our contributing editors (students, teachers and parents) for their particiption in our school newspaper.
